Point Dume State Beach features headlands, cliffs, rocky coves and vast beach access. The beach is used for for swimming, surfing, scuba diving and fishing. Point Dume is a perfect place to watch for California gray whales during the December to mid April migration period.
The ending of the movie was filmed on two locations very close to eachother. The couple arrive on Point Dume State Beach, but George shouts his famous words "You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!" at Pirate's Cove Beach just around the corner.
