West Montrose Covered Bridge, also known as the Kissing Bridge, is a covered bridge in West Montrose, Ontario, the last wooden covered bridge in Ontario and the oldest such bridge in Canada. Built in 1880–1881 mostly of oak and white pine by John Bear, the total cost to the Township of Woolwich was $3,197.50. The structure can still be used by pedestrians, buggy traffic and vehicles weighing less than three tonnes for crossing the Grand River. Since 1998, it has been owned and maintained by the Regional Municipality of Waterloo. Dee Brun had a front-row seat to the action in 2017 when the ilm crew set up shop on her property, according to an article in New Hamburg Independent. She is the owner of the Olde Bridge Place bed and breakfast. The B&B is situated across the West Montrose Covered Bridge on the north side of the Grand River. “Our property was like a temporary sound stage for the movie. The film was on my property for just over a week, but the shoot itself was only two days long. It's not like there was paparazzi around; as far as movie sets go, it was pretty low-key.”
