The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (commonly referred to as 'Coachella' or 'the Coachella Festival') is an annual music and arts festival that takes place at the Empire Polo Club. The event features musical artists from many genres of music, including rock, indie, hip hop, and electronic dance music, as well as art installations and sculptures. Across the grounds, several stages continuously host live music. The opening scene, featuring Cooper onstage as Jackson Maine, was shot at the 2017 edition of this country music blowout in Indio, Calif. “That was filmed right in between Jamey Johnson’s set and my dad’s set,” says Nelson of warming up the crowd for father Willie. “We literally filmed that scene in 10 minutes. [Bradley] went up, sang exactly what you hear in the movie, and then we left. We got it in one take.”
