295 Fifth is New York’s #1 showroom building for the home textiles industry. 295 Fifth Avenue, known as the Textile Building and was built by Sommerfeld & Steckler in 1920 on the original site of Alfred Stieglitz Studios, known as “295”. When 295 Fifth was completed in 1921, 295 began the shift of this stretch of Fifth Avenue from retail to wholesale commerce. The real Gimbels went out of business in 1987, 16 years before 'Elf'.

SYNOPSIS
When young Buddy falls into Santa's gift sack on Christmas Eve, he's transported back to the North Pole and raised as a toy-making elf by Santa's helpers.
