Mountain Lake Lodge was the site for much of the on-location filming of Dirty Dancing. The Stone Lodge stood in for ‘Kellerman’s Resort’, a fictional mountain retreat in the Catskill Mountain of upstate New York. Like Kellerman’s the real Mountain Lake Lodge also offers many indoor and outdoor activities for guests. During filming the lake was filled with water buut today, Mountain Lake is nothing more than a reddish-brown pit, only partially filled with water. The lake's water levels have fluctuated dramatically in the 30 years since the film. It first dropped in 1999, and returned to its normal levels in 2003. In 2006, it dropped again, and emptied completely for several days, leaving behind dead and rotting fish. From 2008 untill now it was mostly empty so unfortunately the boat dock isn't used over the last years.
