Woonsocket station is a former railroad station located at Depot Square in downtown Woonsocket. The population of Woonsocket was 41,186 at the 2010 census. Beginning in 1979, Woonsocket sponsored Autumnfest, an annual cultural festival that takes place on Columbus Day weekend. It has become one of the city's most popular events, attracting thousands of attendees Because Depot Square was the central filming location a statue of the dog, Hachikō, was installed in front of the station in May 2012.
