Loch Shiel is a freshwater loch situated 20 kilometres (12 miles) west of Fort William. At 28 kilometres (17,5 miles) long it is the 4th longest loch in Scotland. It was formed at the end of the last ice age. The nearby railway is probably more famous than the lake because it played an important role in the second Harry Potter movie.
