Unlike the others scenes in the movie, this one was filmed in Inwood a neighborhood at the northern tip of Manhattan Island. In 1626 Peter Minuit, the director general of the Dutch colony of New Netherland, bought the island from the Lenape Indians for 60 Dutch guilders. A plaque on a rock - Shorakkopoch Rock - marks what is believed to be the spot of the sale. The rock can be found in the nearby Inwood Hill Park, the only natural forest left in Manhattan.
