Carlingford Abbey, also called Carlingford Friary or Carlingford Priory, is a medieval Dominican abbey and National Monument located in Carlingford. This abbey was founded by the Dominican Order around 1305. Carlingford is a coastal town in the northern part of Ireland. It still has its medieval layout noticeable by the narrow lanes and small streets. It dates back to the 12th century. The Irish singer-songwriter Tommy Makem wrote a melancholy song about the town, Farewell to Carlingford, covered by The Dubliners.
