Fårö Kyrka is the main church on Fårö island, a Baltic Sea island just north of the island of Gotland, Sweden. Parts of the church were built in the 14th century, but much of the building dates from reconstructions in the 18th and 19th centuries. Swedish filmmaker Ingmar Bergman lived and died on Fårö and several of his films were filmed there. The Bergman Week is a tribute to the filmmaker held on the island every June. In the church cemetery is the grave of film-maker Ingmar Bergman and his wife Ingrid von Rosen. They were buried there together in 2007.

An English-German filmmaking couple retreat to Fårö for the summer to each write screenplays for their upcoming films in an act of pilgrimage to the place that inspired Ingmar Bergman. As the summer and their screenplays advance, the lines between reality and fiction start to blur against the backdrop of the Island's wild landscape.
