Pont Neuf is the oldest standing bridge across the river Seine in Paris. The first stone was laid on 31 May 1578. The bridge was opened to traffic in 1604 and completed in July 1606. A major restoration of the Pont Neuf was begun in 1994 and was completed in 2007, the year of its 400th anniversary.
