Steel Derrick Quarry is a popular swimming spot for local pass holders. But is used to be a granite quarry. It was founded in 1870 and owned by the Pigeon Hill Granite Co. Rockport is located approximately 40 miles (64 km) northeast of Boston at the tip of the Cape Ann peninsula. Today Rockport is primarily a suburban residential and tourist town, but it is still home to a number of lobster fishermen and artists.
