The scene is filmed near the town square called Place Notre-Dame-du-Mont which is also the home of the Roman Catholic Church The Église Notre-Dame-du-Mont (which you can see in the back when the camera is on Mat Damon). That church was built in 1823-1824. A nice fact is that Frédéric Chopin played on the pipe organ inside the church, which is still there, In 1839.

SYNOPSIS
Bill Baker, an American oil-rig roughneck from Oklahoma, travels to Marseille to visit his estranged daughter, Allison, who is in prison for a murder she claims she did not commit.
