The Broadway theatre Lunt-Fontanne Theatre was previously known as the Globe Theatre. It was built by producer Charles Dillingham at the beginning of the 20th century. It was named the Globe Theatre in honor of London's Shakespearean playhouse. It opened on January 10, 1910 with a musical entitled The Old Town. In the 1930s, the Globe was converted into a movie house. In the years to come the theatre was sold several times. It is currently co-owned by the Stahl Organization and the Nederlander Organization. The theatre has 1,415 seats.
