The Hall of Mirrors (Galerie des Glaces) is the most famous and most visited hall of the Château de Versailles. On January 18, 1871, the German Empire was proclaimed here, and on June 28, 1919, the Treaty of Versailles ended World War I. President De Gaulle, who considered Versailles the perfect illustration of France's grandeur, regularly held gala dinners there. The hall is 73 meters long, 10.5 meters wide and 12.3 meters high and is one of the largest halls in the castle.
