The bar which features the name The Hard Deck was constructed for the movie on Breakers Beach, according to Task & Purpose’s Paul Szolda. The bar is based on Naval Station’s I-Bar, a pilot hangout decked out with memorabilia. The famous bar, which was an unofficial aviator hangout since the 1930s but an official one since the 1950s, was too small to accommodate the cast and crew. "I really think they would have done it in the I-Bar if they could”, Tim Slentz, commanding officer of Naval Base Coronado told Business Insider. The I-Bar is not accessible to the general public but is located on Quentin Boulevard at the North Island Naval Air Station.
