Times Square is both a square and a neighborhood in Manhattan, New York near 42nd Street and Broadway. The name is derived from the former headquarters of the newspaper The New York Times. Until its construction in 1904, the square was called Longacre Square. Notable features of Times Square are the electronic billboards, of which there are more than 50 hanging. The theater district Broadway, named after the street, is located here.
