Erik put his name on the wall of the 'sweat room' after graduation.
The Academy Building, located on the Rapenburg in the Dutch city of Leiden, is the oldest building and the heart of Leiden University. Although lectures are still held in the Academy Building, a national monument, today it is mainly used for events of a certain ceremonial nature, such as graduation ceremonies, orations and promotions. In the Academy Building is the so-called Sweat Room. In this room exam candidates traditionally waited for the results of their exams. Fresh graduates and those who have just obtained their doctorates still sign on the wall there. Among the signatures are those of some members of the royal family (Beatrix, Willem-Alexander), but also, for example, Winston Churchill and Nelson Mandela.
