The iconic gateway was the main entrance to Paramount Pictures until 1978. It had a belfry on top of the gate until the 1936 earthquake, when it was removed for safety. The gate is no longer accessible to the public today, except on tours. The iron gate is named after Bronson because it closes Bronson Avenue. It was built around 1926 in the Spanish Renaissance style. Actor Charles Bronson supposedly adopted his stage name from this gate. His real name was Karol Dionizy Buczynski.
