The Château de Vaux le Vicomte is a baroque French château located in Maincy, near Melun, 55 kilometres (34 mi) southeast of Paris. The chateau was constructed from 1658 to 1661 for Nicolas Fouquet, Marquis de Belle Île, the superintendent of finances of Louis XIV.

After Drax Industries' Moonraker space shuttle is hijacked, secret agent James Bond is assigned to investigate, traveling to California to meet the company's owner, the mysterious Hugo Drax.
