Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake is a large military installation in California that supports the research, testing and evaluation programs of the U.S. Navy. China Lake is a dry lake. Its name comes from Chinese prospectors harvesting borax from the lake bed. The footage for this scene was shot from November 6th through the 17th, 2018 at the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, according to Ward Caroll’s YouTube video. https://youtu.be/aXGFFLFUrOE?t=158 The guard shack in the scene was not a real one but a shack created for the movie.
