The Volcano House is a dome-shaped home designed by Harold James Bissner Jr. It was built atop a 150-foot cinder cone in Newberry Springs and realized in 1968. The main house has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a conversation pit and a fireplace. Public television host Huell Howser was the last owner. He tried to sell it in 2009 for $750,000, but after failing to do so he donated the estate to Chapman University in 2012. In 2015 the house was on the market again.
