In the lake near this 18th century castle, Mary and the children fell into the water. The scene had to be redone over and over again, leaving the actors completely frozen in the end. Other outdoor scenes were also shot there, such as the one in which the company drinks pink lemonade. Today, Schloss Leopoldskron is a luxurious four-star hotel with a magnificent breakfast room and a famous library. At that time a white music pavilion stood in the palace park and played an important role in the film’s romantic scenes. Since the number of tourists increased the pavilion was moved to Schloss Hellbrunn in order to reduce the congestion in the park at Schloss Leopoldskron.
