Dreamland Cinema used to be called Dreamland Variety Theatre. It was built in 1923. As a theatre it has 900 seats, according to cinematreasures.org. It opened as a cinema on 22nd 1935 with the screening of Greta Garbo’s The Painted Veil. The cinema was closed from 1940 due to the war and didn’t re-open until 1st July 1946. Restoration of the exterior began in February 2011. Repairs to the building began in June 2011. Restoration of the exterior was completed in summer of 2017.
