The Tuileries Garden (Jardin des Tuileries), is a public garden located between the Louvre and Place de la Concorde. It is the oldest park in Paris. It was laid out in 1564 as the garden of the Tuileries Palace, a former royal palace that was destroyed by a great fire in the 19th century. The building formed the link between the two wings of the Louvre. After the French Revolution it became a public park. On the west side of the garden, next to Place de la Concorde, you will find two horseshoe-shaped Fer á Cheval ramps and two terraces overlooking an octagonal lake Bassin Octogonal with a diameter of 60 m and a fountain with powerful water jets from every angle to the centre.
