The Palais-Royal is a former royal palace. It was built for Cardinal Richelieu from about 1633 to 1639 by the architect Jacques Lemercier. It now serves as the seat of the Ministry of Culture, the Conseil d'État and the Constitutional Council. It also very famous because of the garden - Jardin du Palais-Royal - which serves as a public park. The movie Charade was partly filmed in the Courtyard of Honor. At the location you can als find several art project: 1) Colonnes de Buren: an art installation created by the French artist Daniel Buren in 1985–1986 2) two fountains by sculptor Pol Bury 3) Homage to Arago, a tribute to the French mathematician François Arago, who first conceived the prime meridian of Paris. It was created by the Dutch artist Jan Dibbets in 1994.
