Hadrian's Villa was an outer-city imperial residence built near Tivoli by Emperor Hadrian. The structure appears to be a rich complex of buildings that were built gradually and stretched over a large area, which must have been about 120 hectares. In 1999, Villa Adriana was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
