The Leiden Theatre - in Dutch: Leidse Schouwburg - was built in 1705 at the initiative of actor Jacob van Rijndorp, making it the oldest theater in the Netherlands still in use. Over the centuries, the theater has undergone a number of large-scale renovations. Since 2009 there are 541 seats.
