Around six weeks for Christmas Rathausplatz turns into a popular Chrstimas market. Rathausplatz is a square in the Innere Stadt. On the square is the Wiener Rathaus, the main building of the University of Vienna and a side wall of the Parliament building. Across the adjacent Ringstraße is the Burgtheater. Two thirds of the four-hectare area are occupied by the Rathauspark. The part just in front of the Rathaus and a wide connecting strip between Rathaus and the Burgtheater is paved. Here and in the park there is a series of monuments, statues and busts.
