This building was originally built a bank, equipped with many modern features for early 1920's like air-conditioned and tube post. During the Nazi occupation year the palace was the Gestapo headquarters. In 1948 the building was acquired by the then-Czechoslovak Ministry of Foreign Trade. Today it is the residence of a part of the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade. In 1989 the building became a National Cultural Monument
