The Torre dell'Orologio is a tower with a clock that was built around 1498. Next to the clock are two bronze statues, and below a statue of a lion (the symbol of Venice). The "Mori," the two mechanical bronze bell ringers, have been striking the hours for five hundred years. During the week of the Ascension, an angel with a trumpet comes out of a doorway every full hour to greet the statue of Mary on the bell tower, and on Ascension Day, the three kings appear. The Torre dell'Orologio has a blue dial with Roman numerals surrounded by the zodiac signs and the moon's phases. The exterior shots were shot on location here. They did not film in the clock tower, but the clock inspired the makers so much that they wanted to recreate it in the studio.
