Director Matthew López struggled with uncertainty during pre-production, as he was unsure if the V&A would allow filming. Permission was eventually obtained but with challenging parameters from the museum. Although the scene in the book was originally set in the Renaissance Gallery, the dance scene was filmed in a dimly lit corridor full of homoerotic art and they strategically manipulated the existing spotlights to create an intimate, almost sacred atmosphere. This innovation was an example of turning constraints into creative advantages, using the available lighting of the V&A. Do you know the exact gps location of the corridor they filmed this scene? Please let us know!
