Holy Island, or Lindisfarne, is a historically significant tidal island off Northumberland's northeast coast in England. Founded by St. Aidan in 635, it was a key centre of Celtic Christianity and the birthplace of the Lindisfarne Gospels. The island suffered Viking raids and was later refounded in the 12th century. Today, it is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, featuring Lindisfarne Castle, the ruins of Lindisfarne Priory, and St. Mary the Virgin parish church. The island is popular for its beaches, birdwatching, and as a Christian pilgrimage site, accessible via a causeway at low tide.

SYNOPSIS
