The Metropolitan Ervin Szabó Library is housed in the historic Wenckheim Palace in Budapest's VIII district. Built in 1889 in the Neo-Baroque style for Count Frigyes Wenckheim, the palace was converted into a library in 1931 and named after Ervin Szabó, a Hungarian social scientist and librarian. The library boasts 13,000 m² of space and a capacity for 1.1 million volumes, making it Budapest's largest public library. The palace's opulent interiors, including grand ballrooms, dining rooms, and ornate chandeliers, are open to visitors for a small fee, offering a blend of historical elegance and modern library facilities.
