This is the place where Maria starring Angelina Jolie, Pierfrancesco Favino and Alba Rohrwacher was filmed at Hungarian Television headquarters (former Stock Exchange Palace) in Budapest, Hungary. Start scrolling to find out more.
The Magyar Televízió székháza in Budapest, originally built as the Stock Exchange Palace in 1907, became the headquarters of Hungarian Television (MTV) from 1955 to 2009. Initially designed by Ignác Alpár, the building at Szabadság tér 17 was repurposed for television after the stock exchange closed in 1948. Despite its iconic status, the structure was never ideal for TV production, leading to modifications and external expansions. MTV eventually moved to a new facility in 2009, leaving the historic building vacant. The Tőzsdepalota remains a significant landmark, embodying the evolution of Hungarian broadcasting and the challenges of adapting historic architecture to modern media needs.
