The Parish Basilica of Santa Maria del Popolo is a titular church and a minor basilica in Rome run by the Augustinian order. The church contains works by several famous artists, such as Raphael, Gian Lorenzo Bernini, Caravaggio and Alessandro Algardi. The Chigi chapel and the demon's hole play an important part in the story. The chapel is not located on the left site of the Piazza as the movie suggests but on the right side.
The church was no accessible for the filmmakers. They were banned from using the location by the Catholic Church
